How to sign a PDF online without an account or an app
The whole process happens in the browser. The person who has to sign receives an email with a link. After opening it they enter their email address (suggested automatically) and the code from the message, and then see the document ready to sign. There is no registration, no password and no installation.
That makes signing available to anyone with a phone and a browser. It matters when you do not want to teach people another tool: a client at the counter, a driver on the road, a patient in a waiting room or a counterparty abroad. If a document has several signature places, the sender decides whether one signature is copied to all of that person’s fields or the recipient signs separately in each. If the sender chose signing in the order of the list, recipients sign one after another rather than all at once. The document must be a PDF in A4 portrait format, so other formats are converted to such a PDF beforehand.
There are four ways to sign: (1) after an email, with a one-time code and no password; (2) after an email, with your own SignSafe account password; (3) on a device standing at a point of service, such as a workshop, a shop or a collection point, where the customer does not log in or need an account; (4) on a courier’s or delivery driver’s tablet, for example to confirm receipt. Someone with an account and many documents can select them and sign in bulk, all at once. The first removes the “I have no account or password” barrier, which matters for foreign nationals and older people.
The document can come from your own PDF, where the sender marked the signature places, or from a template with fields for the signer to complete.
